Salat Al Istisqa (Rain Seeking Prayers)

What is Salat Al Istisqa?

Istisqa Prayer is one of the Sunnah Prayers offered by Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) during times of drought, famine or during intense heat. The Prayer Consists of Two Rakats and is started with seven takbirs in the first Rakah, and six takbirs in the second. The Imam usually recites Surah Al Aala and Surah Ghasiya respectively in each Rakahs. After the Salah, the Imam delivers a Sermon and in the end offers dua, as per Sunnah wearing their Abaya (Robes) inside out.

Who Leads Salat Al Istisqa in the Haramain?

Sheikh Juhany and Sheikh Bandar Baleelah are Imams who lead Istisqa Prayers in Masjid Al Haram while in Masjid Al Nabawi the Imam is leading is chosen by the General Presidency
