His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Hussein Al Shaikh, Imam, and Khateeb of the Masjid Al Nabawi, Madinah, said in his sermon today regarding the virtue of steadfastness over obedience and abandoning evils, as he began it with the hadith of Muadh bin Jabal, (may Allah be pleased with him), on the authority of Allah’s Messenger, who said “Fear Allah wherever you are, and do good to erase bad, and become people with good manners”
His eminence also
mentioned that working with this principle will result in a great victory and a
generous reward, in Two Sahih Ahadith the Prophet (PBUH) said: “Seven people
will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the day when there will be no shade
except His and a man who gives charity so secretly that his left-hand does not
know what his right hand has given.”
He further said: “that
the second principle is to cover the bad with good deeds, and that there is no
name that is close to Allah, the Glorious and the Most High, for the one who
does the greatest good deeds which then drives their bad sins, with sincere
repentance and sincere forgiveness.
If you do a bad deed,
then follow it with a good deed that you can erase. Imam Ahmad narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr, who said: “O Messenger of Allah, advise me, He said,
“If you do something bad then follow it with a good deed that will wipe your
bad deeds”.
His eminence concluded
the sermon by noting that one of the good deeds which erase bad deeds is kindness
to people of all kinds, so The Almighty Allah said: “do good; for Allah loves
those who do good”
