International flights to resume Tuesday while plans for Umrah underway

Saudi Arabia on Sunday announced the plans and procedures for the resumption of international flights from and to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.



The Ministry of Interior in a series of tweets announced the decision of the gradual resumption of flights starting September 15, 2020, with the complete lifting of restrictions from January 1st, 2021.


The Ministry also said that a final review will be done in December 2020 and decisions will be constantly reviewed with cooperation and coordination from the Ministry of Health

Starting Tuesday, 15 September 2020, travel restriction will be lifted for the following groups

- International travel for citizens (Military, government employees, diplomats, and civilians assigned to official duties)

- International travel for expatriates to enter and exit the Kingdom with the following visa categories (Exit-reentry Visa, Work Visa, and Visit Visa)

- Entry and exit for Citizens of GCC member countries

The conditions for traveling would be the requirement of COVID-19 test conduction no later than 48 hours.

Regarding resumption of Umrah, the Ministry announced that “a plan was underway to ‘gradually’ resume the lesser pilgrimage based on COVID-19 developments.”
