Sheikh Maher ‘feeling better’ takes the day off

MAKKAH: Imam and Khateeb of Masjid Al Haram Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly are taking the day off after fainting during Jummah Prayers in Masjid Al Haram on Friday.

The Imam was due to lead to Fajr and Dhur Prayers in Masjid Al Haram on Saturday but was instructed by Chief Imam Sheikh Sudais to rest and instructed Sheikh Yasir Ad Dawsary to lead the Prayers instead. The Imam is not expected to be allocated any Prayers in the Grand Mosque in the coming week

In a statement released by the General Presidency for Religious Affairs which oversees the affairs of Imams in the Holy mosques said that the “Imam is now feeling better after a bout of extreme exhaustion prevented Sheikh Maher to continue the Jummah Prayers”

The Presidency released pictures late Friday of the Imam looking healthy and in good spirits.
