Dhul Hijjah 1443 Crescent to be searched tomorrow

RIYADH: The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called for the search of the crescent of the month of Dhul Hijjah 1443 on Wednesday.

In an official statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency the Supreme Court said: ” In view of the contents of Supreme Court Decision No. (158 / AH) and the date of 1/11/1443 AH, that Tuesday 1/11/1443 AH – according to the Umm al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 31/5/ 2022 AD, is the completion of the month of Shawwal for the year 1443 AH by thirty days, and that On Wednesday 2/11/1443 AH – according to the Umm al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 6/1/2022 AD, is the first of the month of Dhu al-Qa’dah 1443 AH. The Supreme Court desires to all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to investigate the sighting of the crescent of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah on the evening of Wednesday 30/11/ 1443 AH according to the Umm al-Qura calendar, the twenty-ninth of the month of Dhu al-Qa’dah, according to the decision of the Supreme Court”

The crescent search results will determine the dates of the day of Arafah (Hajj) and Eid Al Adha as one million Pilgrims prepare to arrive on the plains of Arafat on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah 1443.

According to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, 300,000 Hujjaj have already arrived from outside the Kingdom Meanwhile 150,000 local Hujjaj are also completing preparations to depart for the Holy Sites in the first week of Dhul Hijjah.

The Public Crescent search committees will be seated in different cities in the Kingdom, although the decision is usually made from Sudair and Tumair towns where all eyes will be on tomorrow.
