3 Imams of the Haramain suspended amid contract issues

At least three imams of the Two Holy Mosques are understood to be suspended after their contracts with the General Presidency for the Religious Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques have not been renewed yet, Inside the Haramain has learned

The Imams were appointed in 2019 following the adoption of a new policy that limited Imams and Muadhin’s appointments to 4 years, after which their contracts would be up for renewal.

It is also understood that this is an evolving matter which will result in substantial outcome in the coming days.

It is pertinent to note that the Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques was dissolved into two separate organizations earlier this year with the General Presidency for the Religious Affairs assuming control of Imam’s and Muadhin’s affairs

This comes after the former Imam and Khateeb of Masjid Al Haram Sheikh Saud Ash Shuraim retired last year following his refusal to renew his contract which was up for renewal according to sources

The Presidency has neither confirmed nor denied the suspensions of the Imams.
